dc.description.abstract This study aimed to describe the impact of the tourist destination development on the Pulo Merah residents’ income, especially those in the developing area of the Pulo Merah. Pulo Merah was developed by Banyuwangi District in partnership with Perhutani. The cooperation was stipulated in the agreement number 01 / MCC / DIV-WIS and AGRI / 2014. Tourism Department designated groups of people (known as Pokmas) in Pulo Merah as executor in the field. One of the goals of the development of the Pulo Merah described in the agreement was to increase the income of the parties. This research used descriptive research with quantitative approach. Data collection techniques applied in the study included documentation, questionnaires, and interviews. The selection of research respondents was by accidental sampling. Data were analyzed by calculating revenue per day. The days in January were divided into four categories, namely weekdays (MondayFriday), Saturdays, Sundays, and holidays on a normal day. After the revenue in January was calculated, the resultant figure was subtracted by the income tax or rent cost. Based on the resultant calculation, the income levels were classified into a number of categories, including low, medium, high, and very high. The results obtained in this study revealed that low income was evident in the rental of surfboards, traders Soveri, lodging class C, and all labors at tourism department. Class-C lodging was belonged to the category of low income because it was far from Pulo Merah and cheaper. Moderate income level was obtained by the shop owners and class-B lodging owner. High income level was attained by class-A lodging owner because this type of lodging was the closest lodging to the Pulo Merah. Lastly, the very high income level was characteristics of coconut traders and those renting a place to relax. en_US
